Kathleen Walne (1915 – 2011)

Ipswich born artist who went on to live in London and finally in Brighton. Kathleen Walne studied at the Ipswich School of Art and exhibited regularly from the mid 30’s especially at the Lucy Wertheim Galleries in Burlington Gardens. Lucy Wertheim recorded in her book Adventure in Art (1947) how vivid and dynamic the artist’s work appeared.

Kathleen Walne’s watercolours are in private and public collections at the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne and Auckland City Art Gallery in New Zealand.  Salford Art Gallery had a solo exhibition of her work in 1986 and hold work in their collection.
